Geiger Way Value 6We Give Back To Our Community"Our strengths are drawn from the place where we live and work. As a company and as individuals, we seek to be leaders in education, charity, and civic affairs." We take our corporate citizenship seriously. Here are a few examples: In 1988 we pioneered a totally new approach to supporting educational aspirations when we "adopted" Montello Elementary School in our home town. Since then, we have helped organize 35 such business/school partnerships throughout Maine. In 1976 we helped establish Junior Achievement in Central Maine. We provided advisors to student companies, and our management served on the local Board. Today, we conduct multiple in-class programs. We support educators throughout the state with our support of ShareCenter, where materials are given to dozens of school districts each year. We encourage our Associates to be involved in the community, and they are. Some beneficiaries are the United Way, American Red Cross, Abused Women's Advocacy, St. Mary's Regional Medical Center, Maine Coalition for Excellence in Education, and the Girls Scouts. In October 2004, Geiger received the Maine Investors Award from the Maine State Chamber of Commerce. Geiger Bros. and Geiger people contribute cash, in-kind services, and of themselves in a manner that has earned respect locally and beyond. |
