LEWISTON, Maine - During Geiger's 62nd-annual national sales conference -- held at Aventura Spa in Cancun, Mexico, in mid-May -- the company recognized the top performing sales partners. In addition, the yearly conference set the stage for Geiger associates to work toward one element of the company's nine-point philosophy: giving back to the community. the fundraising event at this year's conference was particularly notable as Geiger recently branded its charity efforts as "Geiger Inspires."
"Peter Geiger, executive vice president of Geiger, will oversee this ongoing project," explains Gary Biron, manager of marketing and vendor relations for Geiger. "We encourage our sales partners and associates to submit a cause of their choice for consideration as the recipient for these funds. Since this was the first year that we formally referred to our efforts as 'Geiger Inspires,' Peter was given the privilege of selecting this year's recipient -- St. Martin de Porres Residence for Homeless Men and Women."
St. Martin de Porres is a non-profit organization that strives to provide shelter, food and clothing to persons in need, regardless of race, sex, ethnic origin or creed. The organization refers homeless persons to agencies providing assistance in overcoming their obstacles, with the ultimate goal of lowering the number of homeless persons in Lewiston. "Peter Geiger personally volunteers at the residence, cooking meals on a regular basis," adds Biron. This year, more than 200 people attended Geiger's 62nd-annual national sales conference, raising more than $6,000 for the cause.
In the past, Geiger has raised funds for various other organizations, including the Katrina Relief Fund, Habitat for Humanity, March of Dimes, Make-a-Wish Foundation and various cancer research programs.
"What an awesome surprise!"
