Posted: July 29th, 2010
Geiger announces a successful fund raising effort at their national annual education conference "Galleria" recently held in Phoenix, Arizona. Committed to social responsibility, Geiger Inspires raised $10,000 for City of Hope. For nearly 100 years, City of Hope's pioneering research has brought the world closer to cures for many life-threatening diseases, from cancer to diabetes.
"Hope is what makes the largest problem bearable," state Peter Geiger, Executive Vice President of Geiger and founder of Geiger Inspires. "Cancer touches all of us in one way or another. When we pool our resources into City of Hope, there is a feeling that yes, we can do something about cancer, it can be prevented, it can be cured."
The fund raising efforts tied in with Geiger's official launch of a new business unit – Livgeiger™, Geiger is the exclusive distributor of the Liv® for the United States and Canada. The Liv is a breast self-exam aid co-developed by Olivia Newton-John, to aid women in the early detection of breast cancer. Olivia Newton-John made a very special appearance, along with world renowned surgeon Dr. Ernie Bodai, at Galleria to personally address Geiger's independent sales team. Olivia also performed the world premier of her song "Help Me To Heal" Please visit www.liv.com for more information on early detection and the Liv.
Among the company's recent awards are the Margaret Chase Smith Level I and Level II Awards (Maine’s Total Quality recognition based on Malcolm Baldridge Award criteria) and the Maine Cornerstone Award for businesses that contribute to the local and state economies, as well as to their communities.
